What does it take to really be a blogger? I haven't posted anything in 10 days :-( We have been busy and I didn't seem to find the time to "document" our adventures. Does this take me off the list of "true bloggers?"
The boys and I headed to the twin cities to spend much needed time with some friends and family that we hadn't seen in a while. It was BUSY but we had fun and the boys did GREAT. Asa and Eli manage to do SO WELL when they are out and about. It's quite likely due to the fact that I myself hate staying inside all day! I can only do it for one day before I NEED to get out. We went to a library and celebrated my niece's 4th birthday on several occasions. Gracie (Asa & Eli's cousin) and Asa are 12 days apart! FUN times :-)
So this means that I am now trying to plan Asa's 4th birthday which is a week from today. For his 3rd birthday I overdid it and had an ALL ORANGE birthday party. It was great but like I said, I overdid it. I should have saved it for a time where he will actually remember it. It's a DIEGO party this year. We are just excited to celebrate how wonderful Asa is and how imaginative and caring he has become over the last few years....I could go ON AND ON with the wonderful things about Asa. I will save that for another post.......titled "my favorite things about Asa."
The boys just woke up from their afternoon nap. Have I mentioned how great our afternoons are in the Quade house. We ALL nap, myself included and it is WONDERFUL.
Justin is on call tonight and another night this week. YUCK. We are SO LOOKING FORWARD to him being DONE DONE DONE (I can't say this word enough) with residency on JULY 15TH! TIME TO CELEBRATE :-)
Gotta run. The boys are calling. I will keep trying on this blog thing but I have no guarantees at this point.

It's been a fun day!
So today is my birthday and it's been great since we all woke up @ 7:00 this morning. My parent's are in town and we are heading to dinner tonight before going to RENT! Good times. The boys are spending the night with Gramma T and Grandpa Bob. Asa LOVES it there and I am assuming Eli does too....he never protests.
I realized today that despite how cheesy this sounds, the greatest birthday present I could ever ask for is the happiness I find in my family. I could not ask for a better husband and my two boys could not bring me more joy than they already do. Yes I know I will not always feel this way but today I am keenly aware of the gift I have in my family. I am lucky. No present compares to what I already have each day. Thank you God.
I have been sick for the last week but am finally on the mend. I just CHOWED a bowl of fruit and am still hungry and looking forward to dinner. I might even have a cocktail tonight or maybe a glass of wine!?!?! My tastes are coming back....finally....I have missed food and good drink.
Looking forward to a fun night!

Back at it!
After a few hours of thought, I decided to go with a blog Justin had already set up around the time of Eli's birth. Justin set it up when he was bored one day in the hospital trying to recover from meningitis (November 2008). I (Kelly) on the other hand was @ 38 weeks pregnant with baby #2, willing the baby inside of me not to come out until Justin was somewhat healthy. Little did I know that it was possible to have 2 hospital beds in 1 room when I delivered Eli. 1 bed for the pregnant lady struggling through contractions (with pitocin) and the other bed for her amazingly supportive (yes, I mean this) husband with meningitis who would rub her back WITH EACH CONTRACTION despite the fact that he couldn't sit up or even see straight due to a horrific headache. Meningitis sucks, period. Nobody can argue this.
We made it through, and we are back today with two busy boys! Asa is 3 1/2 (turns 4 in a few weeks) and Eli is a busy busy busy 16 month old! We are happy.
So here is our attempt to keep logs of the adventures our family faces each day and for those of you out there who might care to know what we are up to. And if nobody cares, at least I have a place to journal about the world we experience as a family.
Enjoy!

A Tale of Two Boys

It's a Boy
After 24 hours of waiting (and contracting) we finally have two little boys. Asa will be very excited to know that he has a baby brother. Kelly did an awesome job pushing that little guy out in 33 minutes of pushing. Eli Emmaus Quade (that's his name so far) is 7 lbs 8 oz born at 7:18 this morning. We feel very blessed that God has given us another healthy boy. Kelly's VBAC went great and we are so happy that everything went according to His plan.
